Drywall Repair Tips |
Taping and texturing tools You will need a couple of special knives to cover seams and fasteners with joint compound and tape, and you might want to invest in a third for finishing inside corners. Apply the first coat of compound and embed tape in it with a 5- or 6-inch-wide broad knife. Use a 10- or 12-inch taping knife to spread on and feather out succeeding coats. An inside corner knife has two blades at a 90-degree angle so you can put compound on both sides of the corner at the same time. Buy quality knives. Cheap ones don΄t have enough flex to do the job right. For even sanding, clamp sandpaper into a sanding block. A pole sander speeds up the sanding process on ceilings and other out-of-reach areas. If you plan to texture a ceiling, purchase or rent a texture sprayer. |
